G's Growers Ltd are committed to the growing of top quality salad, vegetable and arable crops.
We recognise that our operations have an effect on the local, regional and global environment and as a consequence of this we are committed to managing our farms and facilities in an environmentally responsible manner, following the principles of Integrated Farm Management (IFM) and striving to achieve continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Our operations will comply with all local, national and European environmental legislation and relevant codes of practice, and we aim to exceed these standards wherever it is practical to do so. In the UK national legislation includes Environmental Permitting Regulations, Cross Compliance, the Water Framework Directive and Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZs).
As a Co-operative we:
- Use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources to meet our needs. We monitor energy efficiency of the products and methods we use and invest in improvements where appropriate in order to optimise energy efficiency.
- Conserve resources through efficient use and careful planning. Careful attention is given to the use and management of natural resources.
- Reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by purchasing recycled or recyclable products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical or suitable.
- Communicate our environmental strategy to suppliers, customers and the public and encourage them to support it.
- Promote environmental awareness among our employees and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Take steps to enhance biodiversity and support landscape improvement programmes.
- Set challenging targets and goals designed to improve our environmental performance as part of a process of continual improvement.
- Assess our performance on a regular basis through both internal inspection and external audits (eg LEAF Marque, Tesco Nurture, Field to Fork, Organic Accreditation, GlobalGAP, Red Tractor Farm Assurance, Waitrose Farm Risk Assessment).

Our overall aim is to meet our commercial business targets at the same time as protecting and enhancing the environments where we operate by using an integrated farm management system.
